What happens at a Buddhist wedding?

What a blessing looks like
Monks - traditionally an odd number - chant sutras while the couple kneels before a shrine, offering candles, incense and flowers. In Thai and Cambodian practice a single cotton thread, sai sin, is looped around the couple's heads or wrists, linking them to each other and to the blessing.
Water is poured over the couple's hands from a conch shell or vessel, by monks and then by family members in turn, each offering a wish. Guests frequently participate, which makes it one of the more inclusive ceremony structures.
